Who We Are
The River Runners Canoe Club is located in South East New Brunswick. It was founded in 2000 and incorporated in 2001. It is a non-profit organization devoted to grouping people of similar interest to actively participate in the sport of canoeing and kayaking. It serves as a rallying body for its members by encouraging them to join in group outings, thereby allowing them to practice the sport in a safe and secure environment.
Paddling Toward Adventure, Connection, and Conservation
- To promote and to offer opportunities for safe canoeing for people of all ages as an individual and family activity.
- To promote canoeing as an environmentally friendly activity and further the respect of nature in order to preserve our natural heritage for our children.
- To work in the restoration of rivers which have been littered and polluted.
- By itself and with the participation of others like-minded groups, to teach children, youth and adults the art of canoeing considering the goals and objectives of the organization.
- To help others and promote the formation of other canoe clubs with similar goals and objectives.
- The Club also serves as a beacon to newcomers who wish to learn the techniques of canoeing by providing a variety of courses and clinics given by certified instructors.
- It is a family-oriented group that discourages the consumption of alcoholic beverages during canoe outings. The club strongly promotes the wisdom of cleaning up the environment we live in by participating in river and walking trail clean-ups.
- The club presently owns 12 canoes and 3 trailers, along with paddles, personal floatation devices (PFD) and other various accessories. These club assets are available only to our members for their use.
